Dropset Gorgeous Radio

Apr 17, 2018

Welcome back to another solo episode of Dropset Gorgeous Radio - where I am here to provide you with more valuable information to help you along your fitness journey. Today I’m going to talk to you about what you should be doing after you finish a cutting phase or diet phase.

If you don’t end a cutting phase with either reverse dieting or going to a new estimated maintenance calorie intake - you might end up gaining a lot more weight than you want to. You don’t want to gain back all of the weight that you’ve lost in your diet phase and possibly even more, which is why you have to really take a look at what to do when you’re coming off that diet phase. That essentially leaves you with two options, reverse diets or new maintenance calories.

Without a goal in mind after your diet phase, it can be really easy to slip back to your normal eating habits and gaining a lot of weight and fat really fast. Without another goal to hold you accountable it can be a little too easy to add the pounds back on. Which is why I am here today to tell you about reverse dieting and new maintenance approach.

In this episode we talk about…

  • Reverse Dieting
  • What you should be doing after you finish your cutting phase or diet phase.
  • Reverse diets and maintenance calories.
  • Why “fad-diets” and “quick-fix” diets don’t really work for many people.
  • Holding yourself accountable after a diet-phase to reverse yourself out slowly and safely.
  • Metabolic adaptations.
  • Whether reverse metabolism or new maintenance calories might be the better option for you.

Powerful Quotes to Remember:

  • Think of reverse dieting like climbing a mountain. If you’re climbing up a mountain for your diet, once you get up there you have to take steps backwards to get back to your baseline.
  • With no goal in mind after you’re done dieting, there is nothing to hold you accountable to sticking to that diet calories or meal plans - which can be mentally challenging.
  • Metabolism is unique and each person’s metabolism is different than the next person. So what you want to do and how you want to reverse out of your diet is different than how others want to reverse out of theirs, and that’s okay. It depends on what is right for you!
  • Pick the one that makes sense for you, that you think you can stick to, and what you think might be the better one for you and your body.
